MIRA Collects MVR 2.60 Billion in April 2025

MIRA collected MVR 2.60 billion as revenue in April 2025. This is an increment of 22.7% compared to the same period last year. Moreover, it is an increment of 1.6% compared to the forecasted amount for April 2025.

Revenue for April 2025 increased compared to April 2024, primarily due to higher collections of TGST and Green Tax. Additionally, tourist arrivals in March 2025 rose by 4.8% compared to March 2024, boosting collections of TGST, Green Tax, and Airport Taxes & Fees. Moreover, The rise in tourist arrivals, along with the increased Green Tax rates from January 1, 2025, and higher Airport Taxes and Fees effective from December 2024, contributed to the overall increase in revenue collection.

Revenue of April 2025 is higher by 1.6% compared to projections primarily due to increased TGST and Tourism Land Rent, driven by higher-than-expected tourist arrivals and the recovery of overdue Tourism Land Rent. Additionally, 21.9% of the monthly revenue was recovered through efforts to collect outstanding dues, leading to a higher collection compared to the projection.

In April 2025, GST accounted for the largest share of revenue received by MIRA which is 63.4% or MVR 1.65 billion. The next largest revenue was from Green Tax which is 8.7% or MVR 226.7 million. In addition, Income Tax MVR 176.5 million (6.8%), Airport Development Fee MVR 155.3 million (6.0%), Departure Tax MVR 153.2 million (5.9%) and Tourism Land Rent MVR 9.4 million (3.6%),

Out of the revenue collected in April 2025, USD 125.09

million constitutes the dollar collection.
