MIRA collects MVR 1 billion as revenue in August

MIRA collected MVR 1 billion in August 2018. This amount is 16.8% more than the amount forecasted for August 2018. However, this amount is 0.4% lower than the revenue collected in August 2017.

The reason for the increase in revenue collected compared to the projection was the 10.1% growth in tourist arrivals compared to the corresponding period of 2017, thus, tourism related revenues were higher than expected. Along with this, Lease Period Extension Fee to extend the lease period to 99 years was also received in August 2018, which collectively led to a significant increment compared to projection.

The greatest share of the revenue collected for August 2018 was from GST with MVR 529.68 million or 52.3% of total revenue. The second largest contributor was BPT (MVR 121.80 million or 12.0%). Other significant contributors include Lease Period Extension Fee (MVR 76.70 million or 7.6%), Green Tax (MVR 62.97 million or 6.2%), Airport Development Fee (MVR 49.26 million or 4.9%) and other taxes and fees (MVR 172.32 or 17.0%).

Out of the revenue collected in August 2018, USD 38.5 million constitutes the dollar collection.
