MIRA collects MVR 15.18 billion as revenue in 2017

The statistics published by MIRA shows that during 2017 MIRA collected total of MVR 15.18 billion, whereas in 2016 total collection was MVR 14.52 billion. Collection of 2017 has resulted in an increment of 4.5% compared to the previous year. And this amount is 4.2% more than the amount forecasted for 2017.

The top revenue contributor for the year 2017 was GST with 45.1% share of the total revenue or MVR 6.85 billion. The second largest contributor was BPT at 17.6% share of total revenue or MVR 2.68 billion.

According to MIRA’s statistics, the total revenue collected in the month of December 2017 is MVR 1.36 billion. This collection surpassed its projection by 6.8%, and a shows a growth of 10.1% in comparison to December 2016. Main reasons behind this increment are the significant increase in GST, Lease Period Extension Fee, and revenue received from the tourism industry compared to December 2016.

The greatest share of the revenue collected for December 2017 is attributed to GST with MVR 593.88 million or 43.6% share of total revenue. The second largest contributor was Tourism Land rent (MVR 283.47 million or 20.8% share of revenue). Other significant contributors include Lease Period Extension Fee (MVR 112.63 million or 8.3% share of revenue), BPT (MVR 84.79 million or 6.2% share of revenue), Green Tax (MVR 60.97 million and 4.5% share of revenue) and other taxes and fees (MVR 226.02 million and 16.6% share of revenue)

The revenue collected in December 2017 includes collection in USD of USD 66.1 million.
