MIRA Collects MVR 1.2 billion as revenue in May

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) collected MVR 1.2 billion last May. This is 5.9% higher than the revenue collected in May 2016. This was mainly due to the increase in collection from GST, Withholding Tax, Airport Service Charge and Green Tax when compared to May of last year.

The greatest share of the revenue collected for May 2017 attributed to GST with MVR 598.2 million or 49.0% of total revenue. The second largest contributor was Bank Profit Tax (MVR 317.1 million or 26.0%). Other significant contributors include BPT (MVR 72.4 or 5.9%), Green Tax (MVR 63.1 million or 5.2%) and Airport Service Charge (MVR 49.1 million or 4.0%).

Out of the revenue collected in May 2017, USD 35.2 million constitutes the dollar collection.
