MIRA has collected more than MVR 1 billion in March

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) collected MVR 1.32 billion last March. This is 19.2% higher than the revenue collected in March last year. This was mainly due to the increase in collection from GST, Airport Service Charge, Land Acquisition fee and the newly introduced, Remittance Tax  when compared to March of last year.

The greatest share of the revenue collected for March 2017 attributed to GST with MVR 665.9 million or 50.4% of total revenue. The second largest contributor was Tourism Land Rent  (MVR 275.1 million or 20.8%). Other significant contributors include Airport Service Charge (MVR 73.3 million or 5.5%), Green Tax (MVR 70.4 million or 5.3%), Land Acquisition and Conversion Fee (MVR 65.6 million or 5.0%).

In the revenue collected in March 2017, USD 62.3 million constitutes of American Dollar collection.
