An increment of 11.2% in MIRA’s collection for 2016

Collection of 2016 has resulted in an increment of 11.2% compared to the previous year. The statistics published by MIRA shows that during 2016 MIRA collected total of MVR 14.52 billion, whereas in 2015 total collection was MVR 13.05 billion.

The top revenue contributors for the year 2016 are GST with 43.2% share, and BPT at 18.9% share of total revenue. This amounted to MVR 6.27 billion and 2.74 Billion for GST and BPT, respectively.

According to MIRA’s statistics, the total revenue collected in the month of December 2016 is MVR 1.23 billion. This collection surpassed its projection by 4.5%, and a shows a growth of 26.5% in comparison to 2015. Main reasons behind this increment are the significant increase in Lease Period Extension Fee, GST and BPT collection.

The greatest share of the revenue collected for December 2016 is attributed to GST with MVR 521.36 million and 42.3% share of total revenue. The second largest contributor was Tourism Land rent (MVR 294.55 million and 23.9% share of revenue). Other significant contributors include BPT (MVR 118.67 and 9.6% share of revenue), Lease Period Extension Fee (MVR 99.80 and  8.1% share of revenue), Green Tax (MVR 56.82 million and 4.6% share of revenue) and other taxes and fees (MVR 141.69 million and 11.5% share of revenue)

The revenue collected in December 2016, includes collection in USD of USD 55.1 million.
