Revenue collection till end of March this year increased by 16.1%

The revenue collection by MIRA till end of March 2016 has increase by 16.1% compared to the same period of last year. MIRA has collected MVR 4.32 billion Rufiyaa as revenue for first three months of this year whereas during the same period last year MVR 3.72 billion Rufiyaa was collected as revenue. GST contributed the most revenue received till end of March with 39.5%, followed by BPT with 22.3%.

MIRA has collected MVR 1.10 billion as revenue in March 2016. This amount is 13.7% less than the amount collected in March 2015. Also it is 8.2% less than the projection for March.  The amount collected in March 2016 includes $52.51 million received as revenue.

The main reason for the decrease in revenue collected during March is due to the decreased number of tourists arrivals by 1.9% than expected.

GST contributed the most revenue in March 2016, with 51.2% (MVR 562 Million) of the total revenue. It is followed by Tourism Land Rent with 25.3% (MVR 277.5 Million) of the total revenue. Additionally, Green Tax accounted for 6% (MVR 66.09 Million) and Business Profit Tax at 5.8% (MVR 64.08 Million) and Airport Service Charge at 4.0% (MVR 43.6 Million) of the total revenue.
