Revenue collection of 2015 increased by 13.2% compared to 2014

Revenue collected in 2015 is 13.2% more than which was collected in the previous year. MIRA has collected MVR 13.0 billion as revenue for 2015. And in 2014 MVR 11.5 billion was collected as revenue.

GST contributed the most revenue in 2015, with 46.2% (MVR 6 billion) of the total revenue. It is followed by BPT at 20.5% (MVR 2.7 billion). GST and BPT accounted for two third of the total revenue collected in 2015.

In December 2015, MIRA collected MVR 976.0 as revenue. This is a reduction of 2.4% compared to December 2014. The main reason for this is 19.3% decrease in collection of Tourism Sector GST due to fewer tourist arrivals to Maldives than forecasted, 17.4% decrease in Airport Service Charge revenue collection. This is 9.7% less than the forecasted collection for December 2015. Reason being, reduction in tourist arrivals to Maldives by 14.5%.

GST contributed the most revenue in December 2015, with 48.3% (MVR 471.0 Million) of the total revenue. It is followed by Tourism Land Rent with 27.1% (MVR 264.8 Million) of the total revenue. Additionally, BPT accounted for 7.4% (MVR 71.7 Million) and Airport Service Charge at 4.4% (MVR 43.3 Million) and Green Tax at 4.8% (MVR 46.8 Million) of the total revenue.

The amount collected in December 2015 includes $45.3 million received in US dollars.
