Prize awarded to “Kobaa Raseedhu?” winner of the month August

K. Thulusdhoo, Zamaaneevilla Ahmed Ahlam was awarded Rufiyaa 3,000 as the monthly winner drawn among the many receipts received in August for the “Kobaa Raseedhu” campaign which commenced on 1 August 2015.

The prize was given by the Commissioner General of Taxation Yazeed Mohamed in the special awarding ceremony held today at 13:30hrs. In the Speech given by the Commissioner General at this ceremony, the importance of checking whether the correct amount of payment and correct GST payment is made in all business transactions, by getting a receipt, was highlighted. That this is a responsibility that has to be upheld by the whole community in order to make the required payments owed to the government rightfully. Also, even if the customers do not request for a request, businesses has to sustain the habit of issuing receipts for every business transaction. He also stated that many campaigns have been carried out to promote this up till now, however in the future legal action will be taken against those not issuing receipts.

The campaign includes a monthly cash prize of MVR 3,000 and a grand prize of MVR 20,000. Grand prize will to be given to the person who submits the most number of receipts from the most number of business outlets. A total of 558 receipts were sent to MIRA from 11,052 participants during the month August.
