MIRA collects MVR 1.59 billion as revenue for July 2015

MIRA has collected 1.59 billion Rufiyaa as revenue for July 2015. This is 15.8% more than the amount collected in July 2014.

The reasons for the increase in revenue include increase in collection of Tourism Sector GST (primarily due to TGST rate change to 12% in November 2014).

MIRA has collected MVR 8.44 billion as revenue in the first seven months of 2015. This amount is 19.7% more than the amount collected in the same period of 2014. The reasons for the increase in revenue collected during this period include increase in collection of Tourism Sector GST (primarily due to TGST rate change to 12% in November 2014), and collection of lease period extension fee from May 2015. GST and BPT collection amounts to 68.4% of the total revenue collected in the first seven months of 2015.

The amount collected in July 2015 includes $42.16 million received in US dollars.

The collection for July 2015 is 6.5% less than the forecasted amount for this month. The reasons for this is since the deadline for submission of the BPT First Interim Payment Statement for 2015, and for the First Interim Payment is 31 July 2015 falls on a weekend, the latest date for submission of the statement and making payment was delayed to 2 August 2015.

BPT contributed the most revenue in July 2015, with 36.3% (Rufiyaa 575.9 Million) of the total revenue. It is followed by GST with 27% (Rufiyaa 428.27 Million) of the total revenue. Additionally, Bank Profit Tax accounted for 26.4% (Rufiyaa 418.54 Million) of the collected revenue. Lease Period Extension Fee at 21.6% (Rufiyaa 205.16 Million) and Airport Service Charge at 2.0% (Rufiyaa 48.87 Million) of the total revenue.
