Draft Green Tax Regulation open for public consultation

Draft Green Tax Regulation, specifying the policies of collecting Green Tax, starting from 1 November 2015, from tourists who stay at tourist resorts, tourist hotels or tourist vessels operating in the Maldives, has been published and opened for public consultation by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).

The draft Green Regulation is available in MIRA’s website for public comment and review until 25 June 2015. Comments can also be emailed to comments@mira.gov.mv.

Starting from 1 November 2015, Green Tax is to be collected from each tourist per day of stay at a tourist resort, tourist hotel or tourist vessel at a daily rate of USD6. The tax shall be collected pursuant to the Sixth Amendment to the Maldives Tourism Act upon its ratification by the President on 17 December 2014.
