MIRA launches online payments

MIRA has introduced online payment options that taxpayers can use to make payments to MIRA. The chief guest at the launching ceremony held to introduce these online payments was Minister of Finance and Treasury, Abdulla Jihad.

Payment options via MMA’s MRTGS (Maldives Real Time Gross Settlement) through the taxpayer’s bank and via Bank of Maldives debit and credit cards were introduced at this event. Additionally, a debit card by the name of Vaaru card was launched by MIRA and BML, which will be used only to make payments to MIRA.

Speaking at the event, Minister Jihad said that MIRA is an organisation that is continuously trying to make tax compliance easier on the taxpayer and that the introduction of online payments would make it easier for taxpayers at different parts of Maldives to pay taxes. He further noted that this service would move Maldives ahead in the ‘Doing Business’ index as well.

MIRA stated that the Vaaru Card and MRTGS online payment services are only available to taxpayers who use MIRA’s online portal, MIRAconnect.
