MIRA collects MVR 2.18 billion as revenue in March 2022

MIRA collected MVR 2.18 billion as revenue in March 2022. This is an increase of 64.2% compared to the same period last year. And an increase of 32.0% compared to the forecasted amount for March 2022.

Revenue of March 2022 is higher than March 2021, due to the increment in collection of TGST, Tourism Land Rent, Income Tax, GGST, Green Tax and Airport Taxes and Fees. Tourist arrivals of February 2022 increased by 53.8% compared to February 2021, which led to the increment in tourism related taxes.

The greatest share of the revenue collected for March 2022 was from GST with MVR 1.10 billion or 50.7% of total revenue. The second largest contributor was Tourism Land Rent (MVR 541.19 million or 24.8%). Other significant contributors include Income Tax (MVR 183.70 million or 8.4%), Green Tax (MVR 105.71 million or 4.8%), Airport Development Fee (MVR 65.09 million or 3.0%) and other taxes and fees (MVR 179.79 million or 8.2%).

Out of the revenue collected in March 2022, USD 106.71 million constitutes the dollar collection.
