MIRA Collects MVR 3.39 Billion in July 2025

MIRA collected MVR 3.39 billion as revenue in July 2025. This is an increment of 15.4% compared to the same period last year. Moreover, it is an increment of 12.8% compared to the forecasted amount for July 2025.

Revenue for July 2025 increased compared to July 2024, mainly due to higher collections of Corporate Income Tax, Green Tax, Tourism sector GST and Airport Taxes and Fees. Tourist arrivals in June 2025 rose by 15.0% compared to June 2024, boosting collections of TGST, Green Tax and Airport Taxes and Fees. The rise in tourist arrivals, along with the increased Green Tax rates from January 1, 2025 and higher Airport Taxes and Fees effective from December 2024, contributed to the overall increase in revenue collection.

Revenue of July 2025 is higher by 12.8% compared to projections primarily due to the receipt of the Corporate Income Tax, GST and Green Tax. The first interim payment of Income Tax liability 2025 reported by Corporates and non-individuals and the commercial banks are higher than the projected revenue and the timely payments were higher than expected, which resulted in a higher collection of Income Tax. Moreover, 14.9% of the monthly revenue was recovered through efforts to collect outstanding dues, which collectively led to the increment in overall revenue compared to projection.

In July 2025, Income Tax accounted for the largest share of revenue received by MIRA which is 48.9% or MVR 165.6 million. The next largest revenue was from GST which is 31.7% or MVR 107.2 million. In addition, Green Tax MVR 159.7 million (4.7%), Airport Development Fee MVR 149.5 million (4.4%), Departure Tax MVR 139.9 million (4.1%) and Work Permit Fee MVR 69.7 million (2.1%),

Out of the revenue collected in July 2025, USD 105.85

million constitutes the dollar collection.
